Album documenting the activities and life of the members of Habonim movement in Los Angeles, USA, 1936 to the beginning of the 1940’s.
The album contains about 230 photographs, mainly of the life of the Habonim movement, which was founded in London in 1929 and whose purpose was to promote Jewish culture and the Hebrew language and the education of its members in the national revival, through personal pioneering in the spirit of the Labor movement. Most photos are described and the names of those movement members photographed are listed. The album belonged to Haim Douglas. The Booklet “The Bonim Handbook, Madregah Sheniyah Section” published by the Habonim movement in South Africa in 1953 (second edition) is attached. Photos from 4.5X3.5 cm to 6X8.5 cm. Album with wood binding 25X22 cm. Fair to good condition. Several loose leaves, loose photos. Booklet 21 cm. Good condition.

In the center of the poster are photos of the synagogue construction. The conservative synagogue "Beit Shalom" in Havana was built in 1952, and is one of the largest and most beautiful synagogues in Cuba. 40X53 cm. Good-fair condition. Two volumes of the periodical "der groyser kundes", periodical for humor and satire, with caricatures and many humorous illustrations. The periodical was founded by the Jewish humorist and satirist Yossef Tunkel (der tunkeler) and was published between the years 1909-1927, first as a bi-weekly and later as a weekly. The first issues were titled "der groyser kibitzer". Volume I: first year, January-December 1909: issues 1, 3-5 (titled "der groyser kibitzer") and issues 6-27 (titled "der groyser kundes").
Volume II: Fourth year, January-December 1912: issues 1-16, 18-24, 26-39, 48-52. At the end are bound issues 45 and 52 of the third year (November-December 1911).

Four volumes of the satiric weekly "Sikot" issues. First year: issues 1-41; second year: issues 1-10,12-49; third year: issues 1-8,10-42,44-50; fourth year: issues 1-10,12-47. Signed dedications by the journal editorial for Zvi Shiloach appear in two of the volumes.
The satiric weekly "Sikot", was published during the years 1940-1945, by Joseph Bass (1908-1995), caricaturist, illustrator, designer and architect who worked for "HaAretz" for 30 years. The weekly dealt mainly with what happened in Tel-Aviv but also included a section which surveyed occurrences in Europe during the war. The illustrations are accompanied by numerous illustrations and caricatures by Bass. A caricature in color appears on the title page of each issue. Four volumes, 32 cm. Condition varies. Stains and tears. Binding of the first year volume is detached.
