"Sikot", weekly for humor and Satire. Four volumes, years 1-4, February 1940 through December 1943.
Four volumes of the satiric weekly "Sikot" issues. First year: issues 1-41; second year: issues 1-10,12-49; third year: issues 1-8,10-42,44-50; fourth year: issues 1-10,12-47. Signed dedications by the journal editorial for Zvi Shiloach appear in two of the volumes.
The satiric weekly "Sikot", was published during the years 1940-1945, by Joseph Bass (1908-1995), caricaturist, illustrator, designer and architect who worked for "HaAretz" for 30 years. The weekly dealt mainly with what happened in Tel-Aviv but also included a section which surveyed occurrences in Europe during the war. The illustrations are accompanied by numerous illustrations and caricatures by Bass. A caricature in color appears on the title page of each issue. Four volumes, 32 cm. Condition varies. Stains and tears. Binding of the first year volume is detached.
