Advertisement poster for the film "Madam Butterfly" in cinema "Ophir". Tel-Aviv, 1933. The poster consists of two parts, pasted to each other: the official poster issued by Paramount (USA, 1932) and an announcement about the screening of the film in cinema "Ophir".
"Starting on Saturday 27.5.1933 through the whole week, a tragic drama about an Oriental girl who gave her heart to an American officer. Madam Butterfly, a heartbreaking play, true as love and human as life".
The film "Madam Butterfly", directed by Marion Gering was released in 1932. The film is based on a short story by John Luther Long, which was adapted by David Belasco to a play. Starring Cary Grant and Silvia Sidney. 69X140 cm. Good condition. Stains, folding marks, tears.

The poster is in Hebrew and French (on part of the French text are pasted labels with an English text). At the borders of the poster appears "Made in France". It seems that the poster was printed in France and the Hebrew text was printed in Israel. 70X106 cm. Good condition. Folding-marks, stains, minor tears.

The original advertisement poster for the film, written in Swedish. "A ship bound to India" is Ingmar Bergman's third film; was released in Sweden in 1947 (the first film by Bergman screened in the USA).

"Made in Israel Days in the Levant Fair", advertisement poster for events in the "Levant Fair". [ No designer or printer mentioned, Tel-Aviv]. May 1934.
The events of three "Made in Israel Days" include: a gala evening with speeches to be held by Meir Dizengoff, Aryeh Shenkar and Itamar Ben-Avi, a special performance by "HaMatate" theater and a sports ball "sponsored and attended by Lord Mellchet". On the lower part of the poster appears an illustration of the central building of the Levant Fair, planned by the architect Richard Kaufmann. 62X95 cm. Good condition. Creases, restored tears. Back clothed for display and preservation.

Poster calling for fund raising and donations to "Kupat Po'aley Eretz Israel". In the center appears a figure raising a red flag, signed: S.T.'Hatov' and "Z.H.".
The decision to establish" Kupat Po'aley Eretz Israel" was taken in 1909, during the second convention of the world alliance of" Po'aley Zion". The idea to establish the fund was raised by Rchel Yanait Ben Zvi. In fact the fund was established in 1912 and acted, under David Bloch as director, to encourage Jewish workers to work within cooperatives by supporting financially various cooperatives and encouraging the members to study. The fund also supported socialist papers and literature, established sanatoriums for workers, etc. In 1925 the fund was transferred to the "Histadrut HaOvdim HaKlalit" and became a subsidiary company of "Chevrat HaOvdim". 70X90 cm. "Unemployment Fund" was founded in 1932 by the Histadrut and was financed by Histadrut members. During periods of an economic crisis the fund supplied jobs and assisted the unemployed. After 1948 the fund discontinued its activities and most of its operation was transferred to "Mishan". 70X100 cm. Fair-good condition. Creases, damages to borders (restored).
