Pirkei Avot, with the Lechem Shamayim commentary by R. Yaakov Emden, and with Chidushei Hagahot by R. Tzvi Hirsh Levin, Rabbi of Berlin. Berlin, 1834.
The notes by R. Tzvi Hirsh Levin were published here for the first time.
The verso of the title page contains a portrait of the author of the notes, R. Tzvi Hirsh Rabbi of Berlin, produced by "an expert artist", as the printer states in his foreword.
R. Tzvi Hirsh Rabbi of Berlin (1721-1800, Otzar HaRabbanim 17206) was a leading Torah scholar of his time, grandson of the Chacham Tzvi, son of R. Aryeh Leib Rabbi of Głogów and Amsterdam, and brother of R. Shaul Rabbi of Amsterdam. He served as rabbi of Głogów, London, Halberstadt and Mannheim. In 1772, he was appointed rabbi of Berlin, a position he held for 27 years.
[3], 65 leaves. The portrait, originally printed on a separate leaf, was pasted in this copy on the verso of the title page. 20.5 cm. Fair-good condition. Stains. Signs of past dampness. Original binding, with damage.
The Bibliography of the Hebrew Book (no. 000179235) maintains that, though the title page states otherwise, the paper and typeface demonstrate that the book was printed in Leipzig or Altona, ca. 1858.

Portrait of R. Shmuel Eidels, the Maharsha, engraving by Sebastian Langer (1772-1841), [from the book Chiddushei Halachot by the Maharsha, Vienna, 1814, printed by George Holzinger].
The engraving shows a Torah scholar poring over books with a quill in his hand. This portrait is attributed to the Maharsha. He is seen with long locks of hair [reputedly, he grew his hair to attach his locks to a nail in the ceiling so if his head nods in sleep while studying, the pulling of his hair will wake him].
Verses printed at the bottom of the engraving, one from Kohelet and two from the Book of Devarim. Signed in print: "Sebastian Langer Fecit" (in Hebrew).
22X32 cm. Good-fair condition. Restored tears around the engraving slightly damaging the top left corner. Large open tear, restored, to the bottom of the leaf (not affecting the engraving). Light worming, some restored.
