R. Yaakov Koppel (Reich) Altne-Kundstadt (1766-1835), Rabbi of Vrbové (Hungary), illustrious Torah scholar, disciple of the the "Nodah BiYehuda" and of Maharam Barabi. His exceptional genius and sharpness of mind earned him the cognomen of R. Koppel Charif (the sharp) and he attracted flocks of disciples. Some of his novellae were printed in the books "Chiddushei Yaavetz" (Pressburg 1936, Jerusalem 2009), endorsed by the Chatam Sofer with lavish praise of R. Koppel attesting to his outstanding celebrated greatness in Torah learning and his amazing mind apparent in his Torah study and teaching.
