Rabbinic ordination for the student of the Volozhin yeshiva - "R. Eliyahu son of R. David Ze'ev of Podbrodz". Signed: "Naftali Tzvi Yehuda Berlin".
R. Naftali Tzvi Yehuda Berlin - the Netziv of Volozhin (1817-1893), leading Torah scholar of his generation and dean of the Volozhin yeshiva.
The recipient of the ordination - R. Eliyahu Gordon (1865-1932), served as rabbi for over forty years in various places in Lithuania, and later in the United States.
