A collection of letters, drawings and paper items from the estate of the artist Maxa Nordau (1897-1991), daughter of Max Nordau, Paris, Tel-Aviv, Madrid, Geneva, Alexandria and other places in Europe and the Middle East. Early 20th century to 1970s. French, several items in German, English and Hebrew.
Among the items:
* About 160 autographed letters, exchanged between Maxa Nordau, her husband Claude (Kalman) Gruenblat and their daughter Claude-Gabriela Nordau. The letters are written in French and most of them were sent during the 1930 or 40s. Some letters are typewritten, and the original envelopes are enclosed to most of the letters. A few letters are from other people.
* About 90 drawings, sketches and paintings in color by Maxa Nordau, on different paper items (most of them on notebooks leaves). Numerous paintings from her early childhood, some are dated in pencil to the first decade of the 20th century.
* About 90 paper items and ephemera, among them postcards, telegrams, illustrated greeting cards, handwritten and in print.
Size and condition vary. Overall good-fair condition.
