About 220 letters, photographs, documents and paper items, which belonged to Augusto Yoel Levi, an officer in the Italian army, Israeli jurist and industrialist. Florence, Lausanne, Venice, Ancona, Tel-Aviv, Libya and other places in Italy and in the Middle East, early 20th century until the 1960s. Italian (several items in Hebrew, French or English).
August Yoel Levi (1888-1975), officer in the Italian army, Israeli jurist and industrialist. Served as chairman of the Zionist Organization in Italy, and in 1938 immigrated to Palestine. Was engaged in law and industry and served in several senior positions: chairman of Manufacturers Association of Israel, president of Association of Friends of the Hebrew University, and other positions.
Among the items: * about 55 photographs from the years 1912-1913, recording his military service in the Italian-Ottoman war, probably in Libya. * About 25 paper items and military documents, including personal notebooks, orders and instructions and more, some from the period of World War I. * About 60 letters, autographed and typewritten, from various chapters of Levi's life (most of them family affairs, 1930s-40s). * Postcards, telegrams, maps, tickets, drawings, and various paper items.
