Kitvei Kodesh – Book of Writings of the Lubavitch Rebbe Rayatz [Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn]. Two volumes. The first volume contains articles from 1940-1942 and the second - from 1943-1944. Stencil printing, Brooklyn, [1940-1944]. Hebrew and Yiddish. The Rayatz, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn (1880-1950, Otzar Harabbanim 8887), the sixth rebbe of Chabad-Lubavitch, founder of the Tomchei Temimim yeshivot together with his father Rebbe Shalom Dov, became rebbe in 1920. Imprisoned by the Communist government and released in 1927, he later relocated to Poland and from there to Brooklyn, NY, (March 1940). These pamphlets were printed by the "Hassidism Distribution Office" of Rabbi Abraham Paris in Brooklyn and were later bound together. The first volume contains the first discourses of Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn in the USA, including articles from the first Purim he celebrated in Brooklyn. Apparently these pamphlets were printed soon after the discourses were delivered in 1940. Ostensibly, these were the first Torah teachings of the Rayatz printed in the USA. Two volumes, [341] leaves; [315] leaves. 21 cm. Overall good condition. Stains and minor wear. Damages to bindings.

Three Chabad books printed at the IDF military base in Fā’id, Egypt after the Yom Kippur War: · Siddur Tehillat Hashem, Nusach HaAri. Fā’id, 1973. · "Ohel Yosef Yitzchak" Tehillim, with a compilation of letters by the Rayatz. Fā’id, 1973. · Likutei Amarim Tanya. Fā’id, 1973. The books were printed at the IDF military base at Fā’id, Egypt after the Yom Kippur War, following instructions of the Chabad-Lubavitch Rebbe. This printing encountered many difficulties including 20 consecutive hours of driving, a special authorization from Ariel Sharon, etc., and was seen as a shining example of the heroic devotion Chassidim displayed in fulfilling their Rebbe's instructions. In those days, this episode was widely covered by Israeli media. After the war, the Rebbe attributed great importance to this printing, from both spiritual and security aspects. Due to mistakes in the first printing of the Tanya in Fā’id, the Rebbe initiated another printing of the book in Fā’id. This Tanya is the second revised edition. Three books, 11.5 cm. Good condition.

Complete manuscript, Otzrot Chaim, writings of Rabbi Chaim Vital, with commentaries and glosses of Rabbi Natan Shapira, Rabbi Moshe Zakut and Rabbi Binyamin HaCohen as well as additional glosses on the margins. Especially handsome writing, in Oriental Rashi script [Morocco?, beginning of the 18th century]. The page titles are written in special calligraphic writing, characteristic to the North-African region, with notes on the general content of the book and on the content of the chapters. For example, this title appears on many pages: "From new homiletics received by Rabbi Chaim Vital from the Ari and the commentaries of the Remez [Rabbi Moshe Zakut] and the Nasi [Rabbi Natan Shapira] and the Bach [Rabbi Binyamin Cohen Netriya]. Apparently, the manuscript was written between 1698 and 1730 since the Remez died in 1798 and here after his name appear the words "of blessed memory". However, the Rabach died in 1830 and here he is referred to with the title for the living. Most of the homiletics and glosses which appear in this manuscript were printed in the books Otzrot Chaim and Mevo She'arim and the minority of them can be found in Zohar HaRakia and in other books by Rabbi Chaim Vital. The book Otzrot Chaim, like most of the writings of the Ari and of Rabbi Chaim Vital, was edited by Rabbi Ya'akov Tzemach and Rabbi Natan Shapira. The order of the homiletics differs from that which was printed in Otzrot Chaim, but this order is found in other manuscripts from the time. The pages are written in small attractive writing. The glosses and additions were mostly incorporated in "windows" beside the text and sometimes as additions on the wide margins. [131] leaves, more than 250 written pages. 19 cm. High-quality paper, fair condition, much worming to text. Unbound.

A lithographed Shana Tova leaf, with golden decorations. At the beginning are blessings for a good year, in Hebrew and in German, with illustration of the Temple Mount. [Jerusalem, end of 19th century]. On the leaf is the regulation in the handwriting of the emissary Rabbi Masoud Adahan, a Tiberias sage and emissary of Eretz Israel to the western countries in the beginning of the 20th century. Rabbi Masoud stayed in Tillit, Morocco at the time and wrote this regulation which prohibits wearing metal objects around the neck, which are liable to be used as a weapon during an argument and may injure or even kill. Further in the letter is the regulation made "in the presence of the whole community", prohibiting carrying metal objects inside the city, "besides grooms on their wedding days". It is also stated that anyone who breaches this regulation will be banned and punished with fines and with the detailed penalties. The regulation was passed “with the king's permission, and with the permission of Rabbi Meir Ba'al HaNess…". The regulation writ is signed by Rabbi Masoud Adahan and by other sages of the city: "Meir Cohen", "Meir Adahan", "Reuven Timastit", "Shaul Fachima", "Se'adya son of Masud son of David and Yosef". 22X30 cm. Fair condition, tears to folding marks and margins (with damage to text). Stains and wear. Mounted on thick paper for restoration.
