Yehuda Leib Levin (YAHALEL), a letter to Shaul Pinchas Rabinovitch (SHEFER), no location or date. [Belarus, 1880s].
A long letter, concerning mainly the status of Jews in Belarus under the rule of Czar Alexander III, when rights of Jews have been limited and their political status deteriorated, during the period following the murder of Czar Alexander II and "Sufot BaNegev" pogroms.
Yehuda Leib Levine (YAHALEL 1844-1925) – publicist, essayist, poet and Hebrew author, of the first members of "Chibat Zion". Shaul Pinchas Rabinovitch (SHEFER 1845-1910) – author and historian, of the first members of "Chovevei Zion". [1] leaf 26.5 cm, written on both sides of the leaf. Fair condition. Minor stains, folding-marks, tears and moisture-marks, with text omission.
