A facsimile in accurate colors of the Universal Chronicle by Rudolf von Ems, the poet and history writer of the thirteenth century and of "Karl the Great", epic about the life of Karl the Great by an author who is known only by his penname "the knitter", also of the thirteenth century. The facsimile is of a manuscript found in the Abbey Library of St. Gallen, Switzerland, printed on vellum-like paper. Meticulousilluminations, rich in details and gilded as in the original. Uneven leaf edges, damage and tears are reproduced as in the original. Leather binding with inlaid metal buttons, with leather bands and metal clasps. Copy no 524 out of 980 copies.
