Signature of Rabbi Zechariah Stern, including an interesting notation which he wrote in memory of his son who passed away: “My eyes tear for my precious and exalted son, Chaim Natan David, who was taken to the heavenly courts on Sunday, first day of Rosh Chodesh Adar I 1886…” [similar notation (incomplete) in second book]. Number of glosses in his handwriting.
Rabbi Yosef Zechariah Stern (1831-1904, Otzar HaRabbanim 8783), genius and rabbinical authority, among the greatest Torah scholars of his generation. From 1861 served as rabbi in Shavl, Lithuania. Author of Zecher Yehosef, Tahaluchot Ha’agadot.
