Miniature painting "For both swore there". [Germany?], 1772.

Presented is a round miniature painting, which was most probably presented as a wedding gift in Germany in 1772. The painting portrays a European urban view with a river and a church. On the upper right is an inscription: "For they swore an oath there" and the year – 1772. The citation is from the book of Genesis 21:31: “So that place was called Beersheba…”. On the lower left side a dedication in Hebrew – first word is "from" the rest of the dedication is blurred. On the left is an image of the couple – the bride in a white dress and a veil, and the groom in a blue suit, hat and cane.
Diameter: 11.5 cm, good condition, chain is not original, not examined out of frame.
