Mishneh Torah by the Rambam, Berlin, 1868. One incomplete volume – from the middle of the book of Nezikin until the end of the book of Shoftim (parts 7-8).
Several scholarly handwritten glosses in the book, by two writers: R. Meir Shapiro of Lublin (1887-1933), dean of the Chachmei Lublin yeshiva and founder of the Daf HaYomi, and his brilliant disciple, R. Yosef Baum (who perished in the Holocaust). The latter mentions his book Beit Melech in one of his glosses. This copy was presumably part of the Chachmei Lublin yeshiva library, remnants of which survived the Holocaust and reached Eretz Israel.
Copy lacking first 25 leaves: 25-143 leaves; [1], 1-[168] leaves. 38.5 cm. Dry paper. Fair condition. Stains and traces of past dampness, tears and significant wear. Large tears to some leaves, affecting text. Minor worming. Old leather binding with cloth spine, damaged and worn.
