Manuscript, prayers and Piyyutim for Rosh Hashanah. [Cuneo, Italy, 19th Century]. At the beginning of the manuscript is the Piyyut Achot Lanu Ketana chanted on Rosh Hashanah eve, followed by the order of eating the simanim on Rosh Hashanah eve [with unique foods such as onion (batzal) – "We should merit basking in the shadow (betzel) of Your wings" and unique prayers to say after each taste]. (These leaves are heavily stained because they were in use while eating); "Order for study before dawn of the two days of Rosh Hashanah", with sections of the Zohar and Psalms with Kabbalistic kavanot; prayers for teki'at shofar; Tashlich; Kapparot. Copied into the words of the prayer on Leaf [16a] is the name "Your servant, Meir son of Moshe" (the writer, Meir Kavalion). Leaf [20] is a replacement from a later time. On Leaf [45a] is a long family inscription, in Italian writing, by "Meir son of Moshe Kavalion from the city of Cuneo" concerning the birth of his son in Nisan 1802 and about his circumcision by "The Katzin (prominent) Shimon Lattes". Ownership inscription of Meir Kavalion and his son Binyamin (from 1814). [48] leaves (including 9 empty leaves). Heavy paper. 24 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains and wear (the first leaves have many food and wine stains). Original leather binding, damaged.
