Piece of parchment with a drawing depicting Mishlo'ach Manot, surrounded by verses and sections of verses from the Scroll of Esther declaring Purim as a holiday, in scribal script. Lower title "Mishlo'ach Manot", in red, written over the verses. On lower right corner signature of S. Yedidya. The text on the right and left edges is disrupted to resemble a fragment cut out of a scroll. Ink, oil, Pastel and aquarelle on parchment. Parchment is mounted on a wooden board.
Shlomo Yedidya (Salamon Seelenfreund) was born in 1875 in Szentes, Hungary. Studied art in Budapest. Worked and studied in Rome, Paris and Germany and later on returned to Hungary where he designed and decorated the new Neologist Synagogue in Szeged. Immigrated with his family to Eretz Israel in 1921, and after wandering across the country settled in Givatayim. Passed away in 1961.
17X10.5 cm. Fair condition. Most of the parchment fragment is detached from the board. The coating of the wooden board is peeling.
