The letters Aleph, Beth, Gimmel, Daled, Heh, Vav, Nun and Mem are drawn and decorated with illustrations corresponding to the letters. Letters and illustrations by Zeev Raban. The Aleph-Beth book designed by Zeev Raban was published in Berlin in 1923. The letters are framed in a fine double sided frame and matted – four letters on each side. Unexamined out of frame.
Size of letter 10X10 cm, frame 41X44 cm. Good condition.

Printed certificate (with details filled in handwriting), granted to Ms. Lydia Sorani from Italy upon receiving a gold medal "for embroidery" at the "Levant Fair" in Tel Aviv. "Grafika" offset press, Jerusalem, 1934. Hebrew, English and Arabic. [Design: Ze'ev Raban].
Fine illustrated certificate. On the right is a laborer hitting an anvil with a hammer, on the left is a woman carrying a basket on her head alongside a gazelle. In the center is the flying camel emblem. The certificate is signed by the president of the competition judges committee, and stamped with the "Levant Fair" stamp.
Leaf 42.5X65.5 cm. Thick paper. Good condition. Folding marks and creases. Slight damage to margins. Some stains.

Graduation certificate given to Bezalel student Raphael Shalem and lithographs created by him.
The artist Raphael Avraham Shalem (RASH) was born in Thessaloniki in 1888. Studied in "Bezalel" in the 1910s and later served there as a teacher.
* Handwritten certificate on Bezalel Academy for Arts and Crafts official stationery. Awarded in 1918, and listing eight different subjects; signed by Boris Schatz and with Bezalel Ink stamp.
Approx.27.5X20.5 cm. Fair condition. Tears restored with adhesive tape. Open tear at the center of folding mark.
* Lighting the sanctuary lamp, synagogue in Thessaloniki, lithograph. Monsohn printing press, Jerusalem [1937]. Three copies, one is complete and the two others are torn widthwise.
Shalem meant to print this painting in 1916 (as appears in the lithograph) but he could not afford the high expenses involved, and printed it only in 1937.
Approx. 63X41 cm. The complete copy in good-fair condition. Tears, some stains, horizontal folding mark. Some open tears at margins.

Piece of parchment shaped as a drop cut off at the head. In the center, in scribal script, appear the verse 'Essa Aynai el heharim…'. Decoration in blue and orange ink in vegetal patterns and letters below and above the text. On the bottom are incorporated the words "ad kan". Signed S. Yedidya. Bound with a partly unraveled rust-colored-wick, threaded through a hole on the bottom of the parchment.
Shlomo Yedidya (Salamon Seelenfreund) was born in 1875 in Szentes, Hungary. Studied art in Budapest. Worked and studied in Rome, Paris and Germany and later on returned to Hungary where he designed and decorated the new Neologist Synagogue in Szeged. Immigrated with his family to Eretz Israel in 1921, and after wandering in the country settled in Givatayim. Passed away in 1961.
Length of parchment 13 cm. Good-fair condition. Orange ink is faded. Wick is unraveled.

Piece of parchment with a drawing depicting Mishlo'ach Manot, surrounded by verses and sections of verses from the Scroll of Esther declaring Purim as a holiday, in scribal script. Lower title "Mishlo'ach Manot", in red, written over the verses. On lower right corner signature of S. Yedidya. The text on the right and left edges is disrupted to resemble a fragment cut out of a scroll. Ink, oil, Pastel and aquarelle on parchment. Parchment is mounted on a wooden board.

Illustrations by Nahum Gutman, depicting the 1929 riots. Second edition, trilingual: Hebrew, Yiddish and English. This edition was probably printed in Europe after the first Hebrew edition, printed in Eretz Israel, had gained great popularity and was censored by the British Mandate. This copy is wrapped in a paper banderole with a printed inscription in Yiddish and English – "Confiscated by the Government of Palestine".
