בדף השער רישומים בכתיבה איטלקית. בראש השער חתימה קצוצה "...באקי", ובמרכזו: "הר"כ[?] באקי...".
הערה קצרה בכתב יד בדף כח, בכתיבה איטלקית. חותמת של "מענדיל סערעבריסקע שו"ב ומנקר..." בדף נה/2.

ספר הסוקר את המנהגים והטקסים היהודיים לדורותיהם. שער מאויר בתחריט נחושת נאה ובתחתיתו דיוקן המחבר. חיבורו זה של רבי יהודה אריה ממודינא על "תולדות מנהגי היהודים" נדפס לראשונה בצרפתית בפריז בשנת 1637.

רישום בעלות בדף השער בכתב-ידו של האדר"ת: "זה הספר שייך להבחור להרב.. אליהו דוד ב"ר בנימים ראבינאוויץ...". חתימה נוספת בתחתית השער, באותיות "רש"י": "אליהו דוד בהר"ב ראבינאוויץ". בשער מופיעות גם חותמותיו (דהויות מאד).
הגהות קצרות ותיקונים במקומות שונים, בכתב-ידו של האדר"ת.
הגאון רבי אליהו דוד רבינוביץ תאומים – האדר"ת (תר"ה-תרס"ה) אב"ד פוניבז', מיר וירושלים. נודע מילדותו באהבת הלימוד והתמדתו, בצדקותו ובמידותיו הנעלות. בגיל צעיר כבר צמח לגאון מופלא, בקי וחריף, היודע את כל התורה כולה, ומחדש בה חידושים גאוניים. עודו רך בשנים כבר נתמנה לרבנות העיר פוניבז'. לאחר כעשרים שנה עבר לכהן ברבנות מיר, ומשם נקרא ע"י רבי שמואל סלנט, רבה הישיש של ירושלים, לעלות לכהן תחתיו ברבנות עיה"ק. כשנתיים וחצי לאחר שעלה לירושלים נפטר בשנת תרס"ה בגיל שישים, עוד בחיי הגר"ש סלנט [שנפטר בשנת תרס"ט קרוב לגיל מאה]. הותיר אחריו בכת"י למעלה ממאה חיבורים, שרובם לא נדפסו.

הגאון רבי רפאל שפירא ראש ישיבת וואלוזין (תקצ"ז-תרפ"א) בנו של רבי אריה ליב אב"ד קובנא וחתנו של הנצי"ב מוואלוזין. נודע בגאונותו ובהתמדתו. כיהן בראשות ישיבת וואלוזין, לאחר שה"בית הלוי" פרש מראשות הישיבה ועבר לכהן כרבה של סלוצק. לימים נעשה רבי רפאל מחותנו של בעל "בית הלוי", כשבתו נישאה לרבי חיים הלוי סולובייציק (הגר"ח, מחבר "חידושי רבינו חיים הלוי") בנו של ה"בית הלוי".
