Sefer Minchat Chinuch, "Comprehensive explanation on Sefer HaChinuch, with great pilpul and wonderful proficiency…". Parts 1-3. Lemberg, [1869]. Printing Press of Rabbi Uri Zev Wolf Salat. The first edition of the book which was published anonymously during the lifetime of author, Rabbi Yosef Babad Av Beit Din of Ternopil, and as written on the title page: "Authored by one of the Torah geniuses of our times, holy and pure, and due to his humbleness emitted his name… was published with the supreme effort of Rabbi… Reuven Cohen Rappaport". Only in the second 1889 edition published in Lemberg, 15 years after the author's death, did the publisher reveal the author's identity. Minchat Chinuch, eventually became one of the basic books of erudite and in-depth study, in all Batei Midrash in Galicia and Poland, Lithuania and Hungary, and throughout the entire Diaspora until our days. Throughout the years, dozens of various editions were printed in thousands of copies, aside from dozens of books expounding its words and questions. Three parts in one volume: [2], 116 leaves; [1], 148 leaves; [2], 105, 4, [3] leaves. Approx. 36.5 cm. Varying paper, some of high quality and some brittle. Good-fair condition. Wear and minor tears. Paper strips glued to margins of first title page. Non-contemporary binding. The first edition is especially rare.
