Menorah– Illustrierte Monatsschrift für die Jüdische Familie [illustrated periodical for the Jewish home/ periodical for science, art and literature]. Vienna-Frankfurt am Main-Berlin, 1924-1925. German, some Hebrew and English.
Two volumes. 2nd and 3rd year (1924-1925). 12 issues in each volume.
The periodical "Menorah", mainly about Jewish culture, was published in the years 1923-1932. After the third year, the sub-title of the magazine was changed.
From the introduction to the first issue: "Many of the current Hebrew papers have a limited purpose: political or religious. But this paper has a wider purpose: it aims to connect the various parties of Judaism and unite them around a common cultural basis…the paper is devoted to the Jewish home and Jewish family which have always been the stronghold of Judaism".
The periodical features numerous articles about art; among the artists featured: Marc Chagall, Max Lieberman, Hermann Struck, Moritz Oppenheim, Josef Israels, Abel Pann, Jacob Steinhardt and others. Articles and pieces by various writers including Max Nordau and Ze'ev Zabotinsky.
