Rabbi Yosef Dov Soloveichik of Boston (1908-1993) son of Rabbi Moshe ben Rabbi Chaim of Brisk. Served as Rabbi in several cities and important communities in the USA, and was Dean on Yeshiva University in NY. Many books have been published based on his writings and lectures, in halacha, aggada, and Jewish philosophy. He was the leader of modern orthodox Jewry in the USA, but closer in spirit to the yeshiva world.
