Lengthy Torah letter (four pages), regarding the building of synagogues and Batei Midrash, handwritten and signed by Rebbe Yekutiel Yehuda Halberstam of Sanz-Klausenburg. Netanya, Iyar 1960.
Addressed to the Sanz rabbis and Chassidim in Jerusalem. The letter discusses the halachic question of whether it is preferable that everyone pray in one synagogue, or that several locations for prayer and study be established. In his letter, the rebbe clarifies the position of his ancestor, the Divrei Chaim of Sanz on this matter, and concludes with words of encouragement and inspiration.
Rebbe Yekutiel Yehuda Halberstam of Sanz-Klausenburg (1904-1994), author of Shefa Chaim, was one the leading post-Holocaust builders of Orthodox Jewry. He founded the Sanz communities and institutions in the United States, Jerusalem and Netanya, including the Laniado hospital.
