Herosolima, single leaf from Hartmann Schedel's book, Nuremberg Chronicle (Liber Chronicarum). Nuremberg, 1493.
An (imaginary) illustration of Jerusalem, with Solomon's Temple in the center. Woodcut by Michael Wohlgemut, painted by hand. On the reverse of the leaf appears an illustration of the Tower of Babel. Etching: 22.5X19 cm, leaf: 28x42 cm. Good condition. Spots. Slight tears around the edges (on the left side). Inscription in pen and adhesive tape on the reverse. Upper edges slightly chopped.
