Pottery bowl inscribed in Babylonian Jewish Aramaic. Ca. 5th-7th cent CE. Incantation inscriptions written in a circular pattern on the inside surface of the bowl: "You, open gates of income and gates of [sustenance] for Ma[ri] son of Awirta and any name that he might have! O He [who] made the sea and established the dry land… He who sustains the fetus in the belly of its mother, He shall sustain Mari son of Awirta… From the four directions they shall come to him and shall stand (subserviently) before him and shall lick the dust of his feet just as a bull licks the herb of the field. That which they hold in their hands, they shall give him, and (with) that of their left hand(s) they shall fill…". Diameter: 14 cm, height: 6 cm.
