Five large, elegant "shanah tovah" greeting cards, two of them handmade. [Germany, 1880s to 1937].
1. Printed card, folded in half, dated 188-, with "shanah tovah" greetings in Hebrew and German.
11X18 cm. Good condition. Tears to length of fold. Minor stains.
2. Large "shanah tovah" greeting card, printed in gilt and blue ink on a sheet of paper folded in half. The card is decorated with a scrap depicting synagogue prayer. Inside is a lengthy handwritten greeting in German. [German, early 20th century].
28X22 cm. Good condition. Stains and minor tears.
3. "Pop-up" greeting card bearing depiction of the blowing of the shofar, with "shanah tovah" greetings in Hebrew and French. Printed in Germany for the French Jewish market. First or second decade of the 20th century. A brief handwritten greeting, dated 1922, has been added on the back.

4. "Shanah tovah" greeting card for Hebrew year 5694 (1933-34), consisting of two checkered notebook pages, with stickers and scraps glued on, as well as with a Star of David, apples, and shofars, all hand drawn. Inside the greeting card is an additional folded sheet containing a lengthy handwritten "shanah tovah" greeting in German, addressed to the writer's grandfather and grandmother. [Germany].
23X18.5 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains. Closed and open tears. Reinforced with adhesive tape.
5. "Shanah tovah" greeting card for Hebrew year 5698 (1937-38), handwritten and hand drawn, with stickers and scraps glued on. Inside, the card contains a lengthy greeting in Hebrew, elegantly handwritten in Hebrew block letters and addressed to the writer's parents. This greeting card appears to have been composed by the same writer as the one in item no. 4, above. [Germany].
