Sefer “Drush VeChiddush Rabbi Akiva Eiger”, sections 2-3 (bound together). Warsaw, [c. 1920]. Stamps, ownership notations and signature of Rebbe Rabbi Yochanan Sofer of Erlau: “I have received this as a gift from my honorable and beloved… Rabbi Ya’akov… Yochanan son of Rabbi Moshe Sofer”. Leaves of book contain approximately 13 handwritten glosses, the majority of which are in his holy handwriting.
The Rebbe of Erlau – Rabbi Yochanan Sofer (born in 1923), from the dynasty of the Chatam Sofer, grandson of Rabbi Shimon Sofer of Erlau (son of the "Ktav Sofer"). His grandfather and most of his family perished in the Holocaust and he survived, immigrated to Eretz Israel, founded institutions of Torah and established the Erlau Hassidism. Among the elderly Rebbes of our days, member of Council of Torah Sages.
Section 2: 1-3, 16-20, 25-94 leaves (missing leaves: 4-15, 21-24); section 3: 2-63 leaves (missing title page). 33 cm. Dry paper. Fair condition, tears with missing text on several leaves, moth stains, detached leaves. Missing binding.
