Permit by Mary, wife of Ya’akov Swed, signed by the Dayanim: “we, members of the Damascus rabbinical court, authenticate the witnesses’ signatures… the young Yosef Yeuda Dana [1881-1974, rabbi of the Damascus community, moved to Israel and served as rabbi for the Syrian immigrants in Haifa], the young Yehuda Avraham Ma’aravi Chalak, the young Nissim Yitzchak Nedavo Ha-Cohen”. [Rabbi Nissim Yitzchak Nedava, famous Gaon and kabbalist, of the leading sages of Syria, served many years as rabbinical judge and Rosh Av Beit Din in Damascus, was later appointed chief rabbi of Damascus].
