Torah scroll case (Sephardic). Iraq, [late 19th - early 20th century].
Wood covered with cut silver tin plates, impressed and hammered; fabric; decorations on parchment.
Without torah scroll. The outside is covered with thin silver plates decorated with floral patterns and geometric shapes, and with the Ten Commandments etched on the Tablets of Law. On the upper part is a dedication: "This Sefer Torah is in memory of my wife Devora bat Yonatan Katz, donated by Asher ben R--- ---of". At the top are hooks for hanging bells and steel nails for hanging "rimonim". In the inside are two triangular strips of parchment, protected by glass, with decorations of jugs with flowers and with verses (apparently, taken from another Torah Scroll).
Height: 94 cm. diameter: 28 cm. Fair condition. Bends, missing nails, damages.
