Three mezuzah covers – "Jeta Del Mezuzah ". [Morocco].
Velvet and fabric on cardboard shaped like a shield, artistic embroidery of gold and silver threads. At the top of each cover the name "Shin, Dalet, Yud" is embroidered above the name of the proprietress ["Chana Malka", "Chefziba Adahan", "Chefziba Tovi"]. Ornamented with floral patterns and bird patterns [symbolic of domestic peace]. Two covers have golden fringes.
3 covers, 25.27 cm. Varied condition.
"Jeta Del Mezuzah " – fancy cover placed on the mezuzah case at the entrance to a home, one of the important ritual Jewish objects of a Jewish home in Morocco. The custom is that the woman brings it to her home, with her name embroidered on the cover.
