Signed by Rabbi Yechezkel Ha-Levi, Av Beit Din of Trenshin, and ink-stamped by his grandson Rabbi Fievel Schlesinger, Av Beit Din of Tapalshan. Several scholarly glosses in Rabbi Yechezkel's handwriting.
Gaon Rabbi Yechezkel Segal, Av Beit Din of Trenshin (1764-1839, Otzar Ha-Rabbanim 9051), was the disciple of Rabbi Shmuel Kelin author of the"Machatzit Ha-Shekel". He was study-partner of the Chatam Sofer [at "a set time on a daily basis to enjoy the learning of Torah, their friendship was strong and remained so throughout their lives"], many responses in the Chatam Sofer's books are addressed to him. The Chatam Sofer used to treat him with great respect; when he came to the town of Pressburg with the community leaders for a visit he asked Rabbi Yechezkel to give him a blessing. Rabbi Yechezkel refused but the Chatam Sofer held Rabbi Yechezkel's hands, placed them on top of his head and did not let go of them until he finished the blessing. (See enclosed material).
Rabbi Fievel Schlesinger was Av Beit Din of Tapalshan (1828-1911), of the"Ketav Sofer'"s greatest disciples, author of the"Torat Bar Nash" (Otzar Ha-Rabbanim 12433). Son in law of Rabbi Aharon Yosef Shmuel Halevi Segal , Av Beit Din of Trenshin (Otzar Ha-Rabbanim 1811).

Matches the copy mentioned in the Bibliography Institute CD record 0125589, with illustrated title page and the year 1741. No separate title pages for Vol. 2-3. The year 1738 appears on the title page of Vol.4.
