Shevach Pesach, explanations and novellae on the Passover Hagadda [including text] and laws of the Seder night, by Rabbi Yishmael HaCohen of Modina. Livorno, [1790].
A long self-dedication "My acquisition here in Modona¦ while living here as rabbinical emissary¦ on the 12th of Cheshvan [5625]¦ a poor and destitute man who is happy with his lot, Rachamim Chaim Yosef Franco". Another self-dedication with his curly rabbinical signature. At the top of the title page, an owner's signature in Italian handwriting of Rabbi Chaim Shalom HaCohen. [Inscriptions in Ashkenazi handwriting, that the book belonged to Rabbi Chaim Yehuda Leib Auerbach].
On the book leaves are a long gloss signed by Rabbi Rachamim Yosef Franco, and several glosses signed by Rabbi Chaim Shalom HaCohen.
Rabbi Chaim Shalom HaCohen, an Italian scholar, rabbi in Modina, in 1809 was involved in a halachic polemy over shaving during Chol HaMo'ed siding with Rabbi David Zinzheim and Rabbi Yishmael HaCohen of Modina [author of this book], (see attached material).
Rabbi Chaim Rachamim Yosef Franco - HaRav HaCharif (1833-1901), a dayan in RֿŒdos and Livorno. In 1864, he immigrated to Jerusalem and was appointed dayan to the Beit Din of the Rishon L'Zion (Sefardi Chief Rabbi) - the Yisa Bracha. From 1878, he was rabbi of Hebron. Wrote Sha'arei Rachamim, Ot L'Rachamim, VaYitzbor Yosef etc.
