Letter of confirmation for a divorced man attesting that he is single, by Rabbi Leib Etrog Av Beit Din of Niametz, 1890.
“…It is now absolutely clear that this man has divorced his wife… with her full agreement, and as soon as he receives a confirmation from the tribunal as required by the state, he will indisputably be allowed to marry another woman...”.
The Gaon Rabbi Leib Etrog (Passed away in 1894) served as rabbi of Niametz (Moldova) for several decades. He regularly corresponded with the “Shoel U-Meshiv”, Rabbi Ya’akov Wiedenfeld, and more of Galicia’s Torah geniuses. One of his responses was printed in the book “Evel Moshe” (Jerusalem 1884) by his brother’s son Rabbi Nachum Etrog, one of the Safed rabbis.
