Letter of Torah, dealing with Tractate Zevachim, in the handwriting of Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, to his father-in-law Rabbi Y.S. Elyashiv. "My teacher, my father-in-law, the famed great gaon Rabbi Y.S. Shlita", signed: "His son-in-law ben Rabbi Y.Y. Shlita." Zichron Meir [Bnei Brak], Tevet 1953. Between the lines are (penciled) notes of Torah thoughts, in the handwriting of Rabbi Elyashiv, a draft of his response to this letter. On the reverse side is an interesting family letter, handwritten and signed by his wife, Rebbetzin Bat-Sheva. She mentions her eldest daughter [Rebbetzin Chana Steinman], her brother Moshe'le [Rabbi Moshe Elyashiv, Rabbi of Tiferet Bachurim who in his youth studied at the Tiferet Zion Yeshiva in Bnei Brak and lived at that time in the home of his older sister]. She relates that Rabbi Chaim studies with him daily for a few hours. She inquires as to the health of her father and mother, the other children and her grandmother [Rebbetzin Chaya Musha, mother of Rabbi Y.S. who died in the month of Iyar 1954]. She especially asks that "someone from home, come" to visit them in Bnei Brak. Leaf, 19.5 cm. Approximately 20 lines handwritten by Rabbi Chaim, about 9 lines in the handwriting of Rabbi Elyashiv and about 22 lines in the handwriting of Rebbetzin Bat-Sheva. Fair condition, creases and wear.
