Handwritten Notebook – Protocols of the Society for Jewish History and Literature in Offenbach, 1907-1917

Opening: $400
Unsold
Handwritten notebook with protocols and summaries of lectures delivered at the Society for Jewish History and Literature (Verein für jüdische Geschichte und Literatur) in Offenbach, 1907-1917. German.
The notebook includes the protocol of the meeting establishing the society in 1907 and protocols of its meetings until 1917. It does not include protocols of meetings during the years 1914-1917, probably due to World War I. In addition, lectures delivered at the society are noted and some are summarized.
The society was headed by Siegfried Guggenheim and Ludwig Rothschild, both of whom signed the protocols of the meetings held during the society’s early years. Guggenheim was a collector of rare books and was involved in the production of the facsimile edition of the Offenbach Haggadah. During the Nazi regime he was sent to Buchenwald and survived.
60 pp., 21 cm., good condition. Tears reinforced with tape on last two leaves.
