The Ga'on Rabbi Yeshua Palagi, born in 1870, served for many years as member and chief of Beit Din in Safed. The majority of the rabbis of Safed in the generation following him were his disciples. In approximately 1937 he moved to Jerusalem. His son-in-law, Rabbi Avraham Na'im Shichrur, among the Torah scholars of Jerusalem and Safed, served as rabbinical emissary of Kollels of Safed.
