Tallit Katan – woolen tallit worn by Rebbe Shlomo Halberstam of Bobov.
This item was gifted during the rebbe's lifetime (in 1999) by his daughter Rebbetzin Miriam Nechama Tauber (wife of R. Chaim Yaakov Yosef Tauber, dayan of Khal Bobov in Boro Park) to the rebbe's close Chassid, the philanthropist R. Yosef Shmuel Landau.
Letter of authenticity signed by R. Leib Friedman enclosed (Hebrew): "Woolen Tallit Katan worn by Rebbe Shlomo Halberstam of Bobov (third rebbe of the Bobov dynasty). His eldest daughter Rebbetzin Miriam Nechama Tauber, wife of R. Chaim Yaakov Yosef Tauber, gave it as a gift in 1999 to R. Yosef Shmuel Landau. I received the Tallit Katan from R. Yosef Shmuel Landau".


Rebbe Shlomo Halberstam (the second) of Bobov (1907-2000), prominent rebbe in recent times. Son of Rebbe Benzion Halberstam, the Kedushat Tzion. After miraculously surviving the Holocaust, he reached the United States where he re-established the Bobov Chassidut, founding communities, yeshivot and Torah institutions in the United States and worldwide.


The recipient of the Tallit Katan, R. Yosef Shmuel son of R. Matityahu Landau (d. 2014), elder and prominent Chassid of Bobov, one of the mainstays of the Chassidut in the United States and Eretz Israel for over sixty years. He assisted Rebbe Shlomo Halberstam of Bobov and his son and successor Rebbe Naftali Tzvi Halberstam (1931-2005) in founding the Bobov Torah institutions in the United States after the Holocaust.
