Includes the prayer “Tefila keshenichnas laSuccah”, Kidush LeLayl Yom Tov, Seder Ushpizin, “LaMenatze’ach” Menorah and illustrations of the holy sites. The inscription “Basucot teshvu shiva yamim” (and illustration of the Succah appearing above it) are printed in golden ink. 48X63.5 cm. Fair condition. Tears, stains and folding marks. Inscriptions in handwriting on the reverse. Shiviti, large leaf, printed lithograph with three drawings of a menorah, the Brich Sheme prayer, and more. Signed at the bottom (Hebrew): “by Moshe ben Yitzchak Mizrahi, resident of the holy city of Jerusalem” and dated - 1926. The artist, Moshe son of Yitzchak Mizrahi (Shah), was born before 1870 in Tehran, immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1890 and changed his name to Mizrahi. He settled in Jerusalem and opened a workshop for frames and mirrors in the spice market of the Old City. He died in the 1930s. Mizrachi was known for the “Mizrach” and “Shiviti” pictures he created. (See: Art and crafts in Eretz Israel in the 19th century, Israel Museum, Jerusalem 1979, pp. 118-124). 48X60 cm. Good condition. Stains. Wear and tears to margins. Framed.

Three “Tnu Shira” leaves – blessings for reading Esther Scroll, in “Shiviti” format. Sana [Sanandij], Persian Kurdistan, [1940s-60s]. These leaves that open with the liturgical poem “Tnu Shira”, which is their title, feature a “LaMenatze’ach” Menorah and blessings for reading the Esther Scroll. Such leaves are known from the 19th century and it is possible that the leaves offered here were among the last ones composed according to this tradition which was common among Persian Jewry. The three leaves bear dedications:”I gave for…Ben Baruch…”, “I wrote this…for my friend…Sasson Ben Moshe…”, “I wrote this for my friend Habiballa Ben David…”. One leaf is dated 1949 and one is dated 1966. Average size: 35X50 cm. Overall good condition. Folding marks, stains and creases.

“Shiviti Hashem Lenegdi Tamid”. An exquisite leaf illustrated and decorated with fabric ornamentations. [Italy, 18/19th century]. Hebrew and Italian. Large leaf, with handwritten verses, illustrations, golden decorations and embroidered fabric appliques. The Tablets of the Law with the Ten Commandments (in detail) appear twice in the center, in Hebrew and Italian. Four golden crowns are drawn above the Tablets of the Law (Torah Crown, Priestly Crown, Kingdom Crown, and above them – Shem Tov Crown). Hands are illustrated on the right and the left side with a finger pointing at the Ten Commandments. The verse “Shiviti Hashem Lenegdi Tamid” is inscribed above the Tablets of the Law surrounded by various verses from the Books of Exodus, Deuteronomy, Proverbs, Psalms and Malachi, related to the study of Torah, and to observance of Mitzvot and Mussar. Next to each verse in Hebrew appears its Italian translation. Richly embroidered fabric appliques appear on the margins, embroidered with colorful and silver threads, some with sequins, in vegetal and floral patterns, with cloth ribbons. 53X41 cm. Fair condition. Dark paper. Stains. Tears at margins. Some fabric ornamentations are detached or lacking. Adhesive tape to upper part of leaf.

“Shiviti-Menorah”. [Morrocco? Central Asia?], 1863. Created by Ayish ben Yitzchak Halevi. Paint and ink on heavy paper. Large sheet, which hung, most probably, in a synagogue, with colorful decorations, with verses for blessings, good health and protection, names of angels, and more. On the lower margins the artist signs : “…R’ Yitzchak Halevi, Shem Habayit – Sha’ar HaShamayim”. A large “Lamenatze’ach” Menorah appears in the center. Below it three additional Menorahs – an additional “Lamenatze’ach” Menorah and on both sides Menorahs with “Ana BeKoa’ch” prayer and “Shir LaMa’alot …”. On the right and left sides appear two oblong circles with the Ten Commandments topped with squares decorated with vegetal patterns and Hamsas with “Ana BeKoa’ach” prayer initials with four arches below. On the frame and covering the surface appear various verses and initials. 67X56 cm. Fair condition. Mounted on paper. Damages and restorations at margins and at folding marks. Right side third of leaf was detached and re-attached. Creases and damages with damage to text and faded ink.

Illustrated “Shiviti”, on paper. Persia or Afghanistan, 1909. A leaf with colorful decorations and golden ink decorations. Two Menorahs in the center, one consists of “Ana BeKoa’ch” prayer and the other from “LaMenatze’ach” (Psalms 67). The verse “Veze Ma’ase HaMenorah” (Book of Numbers 8:4) frames the leaf. A dedication on the lower part: “I, Meir Avraham wrote it for my beloved Ya’akov Akkhajan….”. 26X21 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains. Some tears, mainly at margins. Folding marks. “Shiviti”-Amulet on parchment. Unknown origin, [late 19th century or early 20th century]. A large “LaMenatze’ach” Menorah in the center; on its base illustrations of the Tabernacle utensils: ladder, oil jug, tongs and a ramp; below them a Star of David with “Shadai” in it. Initials of Ana BeKo’ach prayer appear on margins, and on top: “Da Lifnei Mi Ata Omed…”. Unique illustrations (schematic) were added in between the Menorah branches: Western Wall with three trees above and Rachel’s Tomb. Approx. 35X28 cm. Poor condition. Rough creases, tears and stains.

Decorative leaf for a synagogue. [Alexandria, Egypt (?), first decades of 20th century]. Ink and watercolor on paper. It is possible that the leaf served as kind of a “Mizrah” (“Da lifnei mi ata omed”) as well as for protection. A large Star of David in the center, composed from the Priestly Benediction verses (Book of Numbers, 6) with “Shadai” inscribed in it. Surrounded by decorations of branches and flowers. An additional inscription on the lower part (later?) in pencil: “Ya’akov Hassun Bar Hana Nada, Alexandria (Na-Amon) Egypt”. Approx. 63X48 cm. Good-fair condition. Folding marks. Pierce at top. Worming and some tears. Ink stains (as a result of folding). Framed (unexamined out of frame).

Leaf printed in golden ink, with illustrations of the holy places arranged in an elliptic design. Sent from Safed in 1893 to Eliyahu Dweik Hacohen. 2. Leaf printed in blue and golden ink, with illustrations of the holy place arranged in an elliptic design. Zuckermann printing press, Jerusalem. Sent in 1890 with a long letter in honor of Mazal Tov [Sassoon] wife of Eliyahu David Yossef Ezra. 3. Leaf printed in purple ink. Zuckermann printing press, Jerusalem. On one side appear “Shana Tovah” greetings in Hebrew and Yiddish and on the other side a “Mizrah” with illustrations of the holy places, and more. 4-9. Six “Shana Tovah” leaves – lithographs in color. Monsohn printing press, Jerusalem, [early 20th century]. Three with an illustration “Lebens Boym” (Tree of life), two with illustration of the Temple Mount and Holy Sites and one with a depiction of the Binding of Isaac. Size and condition vary. Some in fair condition.
