Ketubah recording the marriage of the groom Abba son of Avraham Matzliach with the bride Esther daughter of Elyasaf Eliya Batino. Preveza, Greece, Kislev 1932. The text of the ketubah is written inside an arch supported by two pillars. Surrounded by colorful printed flowers. The ketubah is in the Romaniote tradition. The counting of years from the destruction of the Beit HaMikdash is written, and on the margins is an addition written on the day after the wedding: “In front of the witnesses signed below the groom has said to us that he has found his spouse to be a ‘locked garden a sealed spring’ like all modest and kosher Jewish girls…”. 37X50 cm. Good condition. Folding marks and creases. Light ink smears.

Ketubah recording the marriage of the groom Avraham Yosef (---) with the bride Charisola daughter of Ya’akov. Larisa, Greece, Nisan 1911. Large format. The text of the ketubah is written in cursive Balkan writing. Above it – text forming a triangular frame, within it are unusual naïve illustrations, in blue and red: three fish, a plant with flowers and a boat with three sails and flags. The triangle is flanked by Greek vases with laurel branches. 55X80 cm. Fair-poor condition. Brittle paper. Glued on cardboard. Open tears to upper part. Stains, folding marks and tears with damage to text.

Ketubah recording the marriage of the groom Binyamin son of Yosef Molal with the bride Sarah daughter of Avraham Rimoch. Hasköy, Turkey, Elul 1871. The text of the ketubah is written in the lower half of the leaf. Leaves and yellow fruit (lemons?) ornament the frame. The top part has a rectangular frame with arches and olive branches. After the Spanish expulsion, a substantial Jewish community lived in Hasköy. In the past, it was a village near Istanbul, today it is a quarter on the outskirts of the city. 56.5X71 cm. Fair condition. Tears, most restored. Dampness damages, with damages to ornamentation and to text. Stains, creases and folding marks. Added to the bottom are later Ladino inscriptions (penciled). On the reverse are more penciled inscriptions (late).

Ketubah recording the marriage of Yitzchak son of Ya’akov Shonshul with the bride Mazal Tov daughter of Ya’akov Danon. Izmir, Shevat 1885. Large format ketubah. The text of the ketubah is written on the bottom inside an arch. Half of the ketubah leaf is adorned with green, red, yellow and blue leaves and flowers, with a rosette-like design in the center of the upper part. The frames and the arch are colored gold. The upper margins are cut like waves, and at the top of the ketubah is a stamp of “Kollel Izmir”. 57X80 cm. Fair-good condition. Tears, with damages to text. Reinforcing paper strips on the back. Stains and creases. Light dampstains.
