167 plates with professional photographs taken by Kahn during his mission to Eretz Israel in 1912, on behalf of the newspaper and in cooperation with the JNF.
Originally the series was printed and arranged in three folders ("From Jaffa to Jerusalem", "From Jerusalem to Haifa", "The Galilee") and included 180 plates. Presented are plates from the three folders, including the original covers of folders 2 and 3. Some of the plates appear in two copies. Photographs: 8.5X11 cm, printed on 20X16 cm plates. Folds to some plates. Only the front and back cardboard plates are left of the original folders.

Photographs of the colony and its neighborhoods, public buildings, founders and leaders, Irgun HaShomrim, packing houses, schools, struggle for Jewish work, and more. Some of the photographs are later prints (1950s?) by the original photographer – D. Kaplan, Kfar Saba's photographer (some mounted on cardboard leaves); numerous photographs by the photographer N. Ben Noam from Petach Tikva. Lot of approx. 350 photographs, and numerous later copies of photographs. Size and condition vary. Most photographs in very good condition.

Among the photos: British and Arab fighters (photo of Fawzi al-Qawuqji, riding a horse; photo of General John Dill, commander of a British division sent to Eretz Israel to subdue the Arab revolt; and more); photos from battle fields; photos of the military cemetery in Jerusalem; photo of Haj (muhamed) Amin el-Huseini, Mufti of Jerusalem; photos of the cities of Jerusalem, Jaffa, Haifa and Jericho; and more. Printed notes with titles (English) were mounted on the album's leaves as well as general photos of sites and views in Eretz Israel and Jordan. Album: 30X21.5 cm. Most photos: approx. 9X6 cm. Photo-album given as a souvenir by "Mem-Gimmel (43) Prisoners of Haganah", [ca. mid 1940s].
73 photographs in the album, mostly photographs of caricatures of the 43 Haganah members, as well as group-photos, taken in "Mazra'a" detention camp near Acre, where administrative detainees were imprisoned during the British Mandate. Captions in handwriting. Several photocopies of newspaper cuttings are also integrated on the album leaves. Moshe Dayan, one of the prisoners, appears in several of the photographs.
The "Mem-Gimmel Prisoners of Haganah" affair shocked the Yishuv late in 1939. Forty three Haganah members were arrested while training as unit commanders, following a clash with Trans-Jordan Border Forces. Most of the members recieved long prison terms, but were released on February 17, 1941. Average size of photos: 5X8 cm. Album: 21.5X30 cm. Good condition. Stains in the beginning and at the end of the album. Torn tissue-guard.

Album containing about 860 photographs, by photographer Eliyahu Cohen. Eretz Israel, 1947-1950.
Eliyahu Cohen (1910-1993), born in Dusseldorf, Germany, was a member of the youth movements "Maccabi" and "Blau Weiss". With the rise of the Nazi Party into power, he left his law studies and joined an agricultural training group in Latvia organized by "HeChalutz". Immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1934, settled in kibbutz Gesher in the Jordan Valley and worked in the Naharayim Power Plant as well as in agriculture; later moved to Kibbutz Ashdot Ya'akov. Cohen taught himself photography and used to travel to Tel-Aviv to buy photography brochures and meet with Rudi Wiesenstein in his studio. In his photographs he documented mainly agricultural work, structures in the Kibbutz and various Kibbutz activities, trips of Kibbutz members and treks of the Palmach Patrol Unit in the Negev.
The album presented contains photographs portraying trips in the country, tours in Kibbutzim and in various sites in the Negev and the Galilee, agricultural work in fields and farms, and more. All of the album's leaves bear titles marking the location, some with the date. Among his roles, Gur, born in Jerusalem, served as the Tenth Chief of Staff of IDF, as Health Minister and Deputy Defense Minister. Gur also served as Company commander of the “Negev” Division during the 1948 war, a paratroopers company commander (led the company in most of the retaliation operations; was injured in Han Yunes and was awarded a “Medal of Courage”); was the commander of the Mitla Pass battle in the Sinai War; commander of the division which occupied the Old City of Jerusalem in the Six Day War; commander of the operation to release the Entebbe hostages, the “Litani” operation, and more. Twenty-eight large photographs (20.5X25.5 cm) portray the various halls in the "Israeli Pavilion" and a dozen more photographs, medium and small size (12X6 to 20X17 cm) depict the visit of David Ben-Gurion and other senior officials at the exhibition. Cuttings from the exhibition catalogue are mounted on the album's first leaves as well as a document from a press meeting with the executive committee of the Israeli pavilion; on the title page of the catalogue appear autographs of some 20 exhibition organizers, among them Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett, Director of the European Office Edwin Samuel, and others.
"Conquest of the Desert" exhibition was held in Binyanei Ha'uma in Jerusalem on September 22 through October 14, 1953, and commemorated five years of the establishment of the State of Israel. This was a monumental project and was considered the first international fair ever held in Israel.
