["Shoshanta". Yoel Moshe Salomon and Michal Hacohen Printing Press? 1862?]
Twenty-eight lithographs of different sites in Jerusalem on a sheet folded in the shape of a rose (Shoshanta = rose). In this "Shoshanta" the titles of the sites were printed in English and French and the selection was meant for pilgrims (some of the places which are holy for Jews only, were removed and substituted by other sites).
The "Shoshanta" printed in Yoel Moshe Salomon's printing press in 1862 (with titles in Hebrew) was the first lithograph printed in Eretz Israel.
Through the great similarity between the Hebrew “Shoshanta” and this one, it is possible to assume that both were printed concurrently or almost at the same time. 23X23 cm (open). Very good condition.
See: Omanut Ve-Umanut Be’Eretz Israel Ba-Mea Ha-Tesha Esreh, the Israel Museum, Jerusalem 1979, pp. 206-207.
