An extensive and impressive collection of maps of Eretz Israel and the vicinity and illustration plates from voyage and exploration books – about 100 lithographs, wood-cuts and engravings, some colored by hand.
Most of the maps and plates are from the 17th – 18th centuries; some are earlier while others are later.

David Roberts (1769-1864), active in London. Roberts was one of the first painters who came to the Middle East and published and shared its views with the European audience. Roberts prepared quick skethes "In Situ" using watercolors, and later produced lithographs available to the public.

The Kabbalist researcher, Gaon Rabbi Yehossef Schwarz, of the first researchers of Eretz Israel in modern times; was born in Germany in 1804, arrived in Jerusalem in 1833 and died in 1865. His books are still a foundation stone for discussions regarding the country's matters, in the biblical-halachic fields of study as well as in the scientific-historical research of Eretz Israel.

Ordnance Survey of Jerusalem by Captain Charles W. Wilson, 1864-5.
In 1865, due to poor sanitary conditions in Jerusalem, the Ottoman governor turned to the British government for assistance. Following this request Charles Wilson was sent to Eretz Israel to survey the situation and to improve the sewage system. In 1865, to summarize his survey, Wilson published a book and a map which, in fact, was the first modern map of Jerusalem.
120X70 cm, good condition, missing piece at upper right corner, folding marks and minor tears around the edges.

Numerous sites are marked on the map: the Ophel, the Wall prior to the destruction, railway station in the German Colony, Army barracks in Bak'a, The Jewish Agency building next to King George Street and Palace Hotel. On the upper left a small scale map of the Jerusalem vicinity with different marks for Jewish and Arab settlements.

Book with 48 albumen prints by the photographer Francis Bedford (1816-1894). Bedford started to be involved with photography in the 1850s. In 1862, he received a royal appointment from Queen Victoria to accompany Edward, His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, on his journey to the Holy Land, and in the capacity of royal photographer to photograph the region during their travels. The photos present in this book were taken during their journey.
Each photo 9.5X12cm, mounted on a board and titled in the plate. VII, 99 pp, 48 photo plates, volume 25cm.
