Yehuda Leib Levin (YAHALEL), a letter to Shaul Pinchas Rabinovitch (SHEFER), no location or date. [Belarus, 1880s].
A long letter, concerning mainly the status of Jews in Belarus under the rule of Czar Alexander III, when rights of Jews have been limited and their political status deteriorated, during the period following the murder of Czar Alexander II and "Sufot BaNegev" pogroms.
Yehuda Leib Levine (YAHALEL 1844-1925) – publicist, essayist, poet and Hebrew author, of the first members of "Chibat Zion". Shaul Pinchas Rabinovitch (SHEFER 1845-1910) – author and historian, of the first members of "Chovevei Zion". [1] leaf 26.5 cm, written on both sides of the leaf. Fair condition. Minor stains, folding-marks, tears and moisture-marks, with text omission.

S. Y. Agnon, handwritten letter, addressed to his brother in law, Moshe Marx. Jerusalem, [Adar / Nissan], [1925].
An interesting letter, in which Agnon announces that he sent a "small Tefilin bag" as a Bar Mitzvah gift for Marx's son, and to Marx himself he sent the book "Osseh Pele". Further in his letter Agnon mentions "rare" books which he acquired: "if I had the desire I could have bought quite some rare books since I am famous now amongst all the elders of Jerusalem and everybody is running after me"; and Agnon continues: "I am sitting and working every single day and thanks to the city of Jerusalem…I wrote some nice things which, unfortunately, I must publish in the ugly letters of our printers". The book opens with a handwritten dedication by Agnon: "To my friend Siegfried Moses, S.Y. Agnon". Siegfried Moses (1887-1974), a Jewish lawyer, economist and Zionist activist in Germany, one of the senior managers of Schocken enterprises. When he made Aliya to Eretz Israel he served as the first State Comptroller. 122, [2] pp, 24 cm. Good condition. Minor tears and creases at margin of some of the leaves, tears to spine. In a cardboard case.

In 4 months the 100th issue of "HaShiloach" will be published, a special festive issue. The young ones in Geneva distanced their hands from "HaShiloach". They became arrogant – but why? The devil knows. Narrow mindedness and nonsense are dancing in the middle". Written on official stationery of "HaShiloach" magazine in Odessa. [1] leaf, 21X27.5 cm. Good condition. An official letter sent by members of the "Committee for Construction of a Memorial in Tel-Chai", headed by Chaim Nachman Bialik, concerning the construction of a memorial for Joseph Trumpeldor and the defenders of Tel-Chai. Tel-Aviv, February 6, 1934.
A printed letter, addressed to the Jewish National Council. In the letter the members of the "Committee for construction of a memorial for Tel-Chai casualties" express their opinion about the memorial in memory of Joseph Trumpeldor, created by Avraham Melnikov in Kefar gilady. "After checking the memorial from all sides and after discussing the subject, all the committee members reached unanimously the conclusion that generally speaking the statue meets the expectations". Finally the version of the writing on the memorial is proposed. "At first, in the first line, in large letters will appear the last sentence said by Trumpeldor before he died: 'Tov Lamut Be'ad Artzenu", followed, in smaller letters by the names of Tel-Chai defenders.". It so happened that while under the printing press the letters and vowelizations were scattered due to carelessness and in order to avoid any delay in the publishing of the booklet----- please let me know when you have received the booklet and the brochures. Knut (1900-1955) was born in the city of Orgeev in Bessarabia (present day Orchei, Moldova). When Bessarabia was annexed to Romania his family immigrated to Paris, where Knut was involved with writing and editing as well as with activity for the Jewish community. In the early 1940s Knut was one of the founders of the Armee Juive (the Jewish army), a Jewish-Zionist resistance movement in France. The goal of this movement was to fight the Nazis and establish a Jewish state in Palestine. Made Aliya to Eretz Israel with his wife in 1949. X, [6], 242 pp, 18.5 cm. Good condition. Stains.
