Collection of manuscripts and typewritten essays, memories of the holocaust period in Shavli Ghetto (Siauliai), Lithuania, by Eliezer Yerushalmi. [1940s-50s]. Yiddish.
Eliezer Yerushalmi (1900-1962) – teacher and school headmaster in Shavli Ghetto; in 1944 fled from the ghetto and joined the Red Army. After the war, served as headmaster of a Jewish school in Vilnius. Later on left for Poland and from there to Italy where he managed the culture department for refugees during the years 1945-48. Composed several books with important information about life in the Shavli Ghetto (for more information see the attached material). Presented here are several manuscripts and typewritten compositions: handwritten notebook "di geshikhte fun Shavler geto un fun zefon Lita bekitzur". 60 pp. * A play – the story takes place during the holocaust. Thirteen copies (copies of typewritten leaves). 12 pp. each. * "Profesor shuster", tragedy in four acts. 34 handwritten leaves + 34 typewritten leaves + 17 handwritten leaves (possibly a first, incomplete, draft). * "Man iz im mekane di dira, a novele fun plitim in italye", novel about refuggees' lives in Italy. [13] handwritten leaves + 17 typewritten leaves. Other plays, drafts of essays and historic compositions about Lithuanian Jews during the holocaust. Sizes and conditions vary.

Cheese sent to Amsterdam. Amsterdam, [no printer's name, maybe Props?], (1840s). Hebrew and Yiddish.
A notebook printed in a narrow and longish shape, divided according to months: from Adar to Teveth. Used to fill out details about cheese deliveries in Amsterdam. On each page the Jewish dates are written and the words "Morning" and "Evening". On the last two leaves appear tables with the title "Cheese sent to Amsterdam" (in Yiddish) and spaces to fill out the details of the day, month, weight, price, etc. [12] leaves, 19.5 cm. Good condition. Minor tears to cover.

Photo-album of the Austrian-Jewish cinema actor Hans Behal / Behall. Austria, [1930s-20s].
Album containing many original photos and some newspaper cuttings, with photos from films in which he participated. A label is attached next to most of the photos with the title of the film. Some of the photos were taken in Eretz Israel which means that Behal continued to act in films in Eretz Israel; in one of the photos a woman is seen with an inscription on her hat "Artistic Club Behal". Behal was born in Vienna in 1893, participated in many German films during the 1920s and early 1930s. Left Austria in 1933 with the rise of the Nazi Party and later moved to Eretz Israel. More than 100 photos and paper-cuttings, sizes and conditions vary, Album 29X40 cm.

The album opens with a family tree; 59 photos have been pasted to the album leaves (many photos from the late 19th cent. and early 20th cent.), as well as 30 additional items (calling cards, invitations to family events, a postcard, newspaper cuttings, etc.), documenting the extended family in Germany (mainly portrait photos and family photos) and in Eretz Israel. Some of the family members moved to Eretz Israel in the 1930s-40s and died there in the 1970s. Some family members were murdered in extermination camps in Poland (amongst the album leaves are names of family members who perished in the holocaust). Families mentioned in the album are: Dinkelspuehler, Wilmersdoerfer, Fuerth (Fürth), Spier, Frank and Schwestern, from Darmstadt, Wiesbaden and Frankfurt am Main. Album 40.5X30 cm. Good condition.
