A varied interesting collection that provides a comprehensive look on management of the book trade during those years, trade in new and old books alike. Correspondence from various countries, from veteran traders to private people searching for certain books. Many letters are from Bigeleisen bookshops in NY, David Frankel of Lvov and NY, Yochanan Rubenstein of Haifa, Efraim Keizer of Pressburg, Yehuda Idil Bialistotsky of Slonim and letters from various bookshops in Tschernovitz, Vienna, Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, Warsaw etc. Lists of books and their prices, (some of the catalogues are on printed leaves), and more letters and papers from those times.

Letter by Rabbi Kook to Henrietta Sold. Jerusalem, [1923].
Letter concerning the “great necessity of locating a vacant apartment for Rabbi Rata”. Rabbi Kook notes that “this is a matter of life and death” and mentions Rabbi Tzvi Pesach Frank and Rabbi Yerucham Fishel Bernstein, members of the rabbinate of Jerusalem.
Official stationery. 17 cm. Good condition. Stapling holes.

Letter in handwriting and signature of the Ga’on Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak HaCohen Kook, Chief Rabbi of Eretz Yisrael. Jerusalem, Cheshvan (1923).
In the letter directed toward Dr. Moshe Wallach, director of "Sha’arei Tzedek" Hospital, Rabbi Kook requests: “To admit the maiden to the hospital… whose illness is severe, G-D have mercy on her. Her dear father… was freed from the Ukraine, escaped from the sword of the murderers and is destitute”.

Letter signed by 28 residents of "" neighborhood, to their elderly rabbi, Rabbi Shaul Chaim Horowitz, Rabbi of Nadvorna, in appeal to appoint his daughter’s son “the great rabbi… notable in Torah and reverence of G-D… Rabbi Yosef Gershon Horowitz whom the honorable rabbi adopted as a son”, as rabbi and Halachic ruler of "Me’ah She’arim". Jerusalem, Adar (1907).
Signatories include: Rabbi “Menachem Nachum Katz”, Rabbi “Ya’akov Moshe Charlap”, Rabbi “Nachum Kahana Shapiro”, Rabbi “Raphael Zerach Leib son of Rabbi Mordechai” [of Rockaway], and others.
Rabbi Shaul Chaim Horowitz (1820-1916) Av Beit Din of Dovrovna, son-in-law of the "Nachalat David". Immigrated to Jerusalem in 1883 and was founder and director of the "Me’ah She’arim "Yeshiva and Talumd Torah. Was blessed with longevity, and during his lifetime his daughter’s son, the Ga’on Rabbi Yosef Gershon Horowitz (1869-1951), succeeded him in the "Me’ah She’arim" Rabbinate and Yeshiva leadership.
