Sefer Torah from the beit midrash adjacent to the grave of Rabbi Meir Ba'al Haness in Tiberias, [1891]. Ink on parchment, handsome Sefardi handwriting from the 19th century. In a velvet-covered wooden holder, ornamented with brass and silver cut and beaten [some are attached to the wood with nails]. On the inner side is a hand-illustrated and colored paper, with inscription: "Rabbi Meir Ba'al Haness he shall merit doing mitzvot and good deeds, 1891". A beaten silver band around the holder with the inscription: "This holder and sefer Torah belongs to the woman Kozmah bat Tzalach Ezra Mashiach who dedicated it in honor of Rabbi Meir Ba'al Haness 1891". At the Hillula of Rabbi Meir Ba'al Haness in Tiberias (on the 14th of Iyar), the custom was to take out all the Torah scrolls from the ark and dance with them in a joyous and magnificent parade (responsa VaYomer Meir, Volume 2, Siman 59; Avanim BaChoma, pages 65-66). Many segulot of salvations are known in the merit of giving charity and prayer with saying the name of Rabbi Meir Ba'al Haness [their source is according to the Talmud in the name of Rabbi Meir himself that said to the guard of the prison "Eloka D'Meir Aneini" for salvation, see Tractate Avoda Zara 18, 1]. The buyer shall receive the document of authorization of the sale of the scroll by those in charge of the grave of Rabbi Meir Ba'al Haness. Height of parchment: 47 cm. Maximum height of holder: 97 cm. Scroll is in good condition [its kashrut has not been investigated], the inner fabric of holder and the outer velvet are

Megillat Esther on pale brown parchment, ancient scribe writing [18th century?], first two sheets completed in more recent writing, on pale brown parchment. These sheets contain simple illustrations, of various images from the Megilla, which were also illustrated on the sheets of the ancient Megilla.
Height of sheets 17-19 cm. Good-fair condition, stains and wear. Parchment lace for tying. Stylish wooden post, approx. 35 cm., damaged and incomplete.

Megillat Esther written on parchment, with fine scribe writing ("Beit Yosef" writing), 11 rows. [Early 20th century].
According to the opinion of the Vilna Ga’on and the Chatam Sofer, the letters of the sheet listing the names of" the ten sons of Haman" should be the same size as the rest of the Megilla. According to other opinions, the ten sons of Haman should be listed on one whole sheet and in large letters. In our generation, meticulously observant people have begun to write the entire Megilla on only 11 rows, to comply with all opinions. These Megillot are more expensive since they have more sheets than the regular Megillot. It is rare to find a Megilla with 11 rows from such an early period of time, [most of the Halcha authorities who discuss this disagreement, do not propose this solution of writing 11 rows. See Mishnah Berurah Siman 691, Sha'ar HaTzion, 16. It is well known that the Chazon Ish owned such a Megilla].

A set of printed "booklets" for aliya l'Torah. [Vienna, beginning of 20th century].
Each "booklet" is comprised of two leaves, pasted unto a hard cover. The blessings of the aliya l'Torah are printed on one leaf and on the other is a list of the institutes in Vienna for contributions to charity [in each booklet a red ink line is drawn under the name of one of the institutes]. A paper label is pasted on the cover of each booklet with the name of the aliya [cohen, levi, shlishi etc.] or the honor bestowed [hagbaha and gelila]. The booklets were distributed before the Torah reading amongst the men who were designated to receive an aliya.
Attached is a matching cardboard sheet on which the names of the aliyot and the honors are printed.

El Maleh Rachamim. Lamentation for 20th of Sivan for “the great Rabbi Yechiel Michel of the Nemirov congregation who was martyred in 1648” and for martyrs of the 1648 and 1649 Khmelnytsky Uprising. [Eastern Europe, early 18th century?].
Manuscript on parchment; last leaf contains calligraphic flower-patterned ornament. Lamentation in alphabetical order (printed in the Ya’abetz prayer book).
During the 1648 and 1649 Khmelnytsky Uprising over one hundred thousand Jews from towns of Southern Ukraine and Poland were brutally massacred by the Cossack military under the leadership of Bogdan Khmelnytsky. On the 20th of Sivan 1648, the entire congregation of Nemirov was massacred, approximately six thousand men, women and children together with their esteemed rabbi, Rabbi Yechiel Michel. This day was established for generations as a fast day on which lamentations composed especially for this day are recited. The fast day of the 20th of Sivan is kept throughout certain congregations until today and the Belz Rebbe recently reestablished this custom in memory of the Holocaust.

The writer is possibly Rabbi Rachamim David Sharim (1869-1934), genius and Kabbalist, author of "Sha’arei Rachamim", "Sha’arei Derech HaChaim" and more. Immigrated from Aram Tzova to Jerusalem in 1900, and studied Kabbalah from Rabbi Shaul Dweck [the Sadeh] and Rabbi Avraham Ades-Antebi.
