Archive of stories and memoirs by Jacov Liscovitch (1885-1975), Yiddish and Arabic author. Liscovitch was born in Belarus, immigrated to Cairo in 1905, where he published a weekly magazine for children in Arabic, and a weekly magazine for adults in Yiddish. Published novels about the life of women in Egypt. Made aliya to Israel and passed away in Ramat Gan. The street where he lived in Cairo bears his name, next to the Ashkenazi synagogue.
The archive contains: * Draft of the book Zenab, novel about a Harem woman, translated into English by L. Poem (118 pp). * Two folders with newspaper clippings of his stories, Yiddish. * Two volumes of autobiographical memoirs, handwritten, Yiddish. * A diary in parts of which appear newspaper sections about the author's stories in Yiddish. * Booklet with the author's memoirs, handwritten, in English (photocopy). * About 60 leaves with the author's stories, photocopied, Yiddish. * 16 letters/poems/speeches, written on festive occasions and for memorial days, handwritten and printed, Yiddish. * Additional items.
