Album Missionis Terrae Sanctae / Album of the Mission of Franciscans in Holy Land. Milano, [ca. 1893]. Latin, English, French and Italian. Two volumes.
An album documenting the activities of the Mission of Franciscans in Palestine and the vicinity. Two thick volumes which include prints (after photographs) depicting views in Palestine and the vicinity, holy Christian sites, schools where the Franciscans were active and more. Each print is mounted on a thick paper board and surround by a golden frame. Prints are accompanied by captions in Latin, English, French and Italian.
The first volume is dedicated to Judea and the Galilee and includes 146 prints which depict sites in Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Jericho, Ramla, Nazareth, Tiberias, Acre and other places. The second volume is devoted to Syria, Cyprus and Egypt and includes 117 prints depicting sites in Tripoli, Damascus, Alexandria, Cairo and other places.
First volume: [7], 146, [4] leaves; Second volume: [4] leaves, 147-263, [4] leaves, 31.5X24 cm. It is possible that three leaves are missing at the beginning of the first volume. Good-fair condition. Some detached leaves. Slight stains and defects at margins of some leaves. Original bindings, with leather spines, gilt stamped. Slight tears and defects to bindings. Worn spines.
