Interesting approbation by Rebbe Chaim of Sanz, close disciple of the author, at the beginning of part I. He writes there that he at first did not approve to the printing of the holy teachings of R. Naftali of Ropshitz, "because I knew that the holy author also did not approve of printing his Torah novellae. However, on second thought, I decided that it was good that the printers published these writings. It is known that R. Chaim Vital also refrained from publishing his novellae and the teachings he received from his teacher, the Ari, and did not allow his disciples to write them; nevertheless, the righteous of the generation made efforts to copy, write and publish them, and the world shone…".
Part II was used to prepare the Jerusalem 1954 edition. Handwritten markings of the printer throughout and folding marks in the middle of leaves, in preparation for the printing of the new edition.
Two parts in one volume: [2], 124; [1], 119 leaves. Lacking final leaf. 21.5 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains, including dampstains, and wear. Open tears in several places, slightly affecting text. Open tear to leaf 31 of first sequence, affecting text, repaired with paper. Significant wear, small tears and many folding marks to part II. Stamps. Many inscriptions and marking in body of text, primarily in part II. New binding, including parts of original leather spine.
