Two large shell cartridges with decorations created in the wake (and to mark the conclusion) of the Six-Day War. Israel, 1967.
Brass, turned and engraved; metal plate, engraved; paint.
1. 75-mm shell cartridge (M50, IDF stock, manufactured in Israel). Cartridge bears a large, engraved illustration of the biblical scene of Rebecca next to the well, in the shade of a palm, carrying a large jug on her head. Adjacent to the base is a metal plate with an engraved inscription (Hebrew) in remembrance of the Six-Day War: "Souvenir of the third war since the establishment of the State of Israel, the ‘Six-Day' War, June 5, 1967 – June 11, 1967, liberating the Sinai Peninsula, Judea and Samaria, and the Golan Heights (on the Sabbath)." Height: 59 cm.
2. 105-mm shell cartridge. A map of Israel, including the Sinai Peninsula, is drawn on the surface of the cartridge, along with the English-Hebrew caption: "June [English] 5-10 June [Hebrew] 1967 5727." Height: 45 cm.
