Torah Scroll Mantle –Harbin, 1923

Torah scroll mantle. Harbin (China), [1923]. Blue, red and purple velvet cloth, gold thread raised embroidery decorations. Two pillars with rampant lions on them, between them a Torah crown and below it a pair of hands (mark of Cohen) and Star of David. The Tablets of the Law are in the center and a dedicatory inscription: “Rabbi Enoch Hanach son of Rafael Weinstein December 1923 here Harbin”. The mantle is open at the back. The front part is made of blue velvet and the back of red velvet. Height: approx. 65 cm. Damage and severe tears in the embroidered decorations. Wear and tears in the velvet cloth and in the lining.
